Some early morning grooves, albeit shaky and slightly ‘rusty’, with some potential.
In an attempt to warm up my hands, I just jammed a bit with the camera on. Thought you might like some of my ideas. Hopefully you do! Let me speak using my drums, hear what I have to say. Thank you.

Beginner jazz drumming

Matt explains how to venture into jazz drumming basics.

Swing 6/8 rhythm

A basic swing 6/8 rhythm. Starts with H/H playing 123456. Bass is on 1. Snare is on 4. Then play bass on 1, 3 and 6.

Basic reggae beat

Here is a basic reggae rhythm. You can find this rhythm/pattern being used in the Grade 3 Rockschool book. The track is called Trenchtown.

Matt jazz jam

Playing at the Psalm Drummer Summer School in August 2008. An impromptu jam with some excellent jazz musicians. They put up with me for as long as they could but then I had to down the sticks for someone else.
